Elina Fessa is a Greek screenwriter and director based in Spain. With a background in fine arts and photography, her work is rooted in visual composition and close attention to character, placing women and intimate relationships at the center of her films.
She is currently developing two feature films, In the Shadow of Teide and La niña con el sol en sus ojos, both advanced through sustained development within European and international contexts. Her projects have been developed at programs including Berlinale Script Station, the SGAE Foundation Screenwriting Lab, and MFI Script 2 Film Workshop, with support from institutions such as the Greek Film Centre.
Her films focus on moments where relationships shift quietly but decisively, and where inner experience reshapes how events are lived and understood. Working with ellipsis, proximity, and restrained observation, she builds meaning through behavior, rhythm, and the accumulation of small, concrete moments.
Fessa’s short films have screened internationally, with Tracks receiving the Best Actress Award at the Athens International Film Festival and Still Water recognized by the Directors Guild of America Student Awards. Her practice continues to develop over time, grounded in depth, precision, and long-term engagement with her projects.
She holds a BA in Art from Yale University and an MFA in Film Directing from Columbia University.
Alongside her filmmaking, she works internationally as a script consultant through EXTINT.
